Ultra-Deepwater Drillship – Reactivation, 2023

The Drillship was leased to an international drilling contractor, it underwent a meticulous and comprehensive reactivation activity. The project was executed during a 6-month period, culminating in end-customer acceptance. Before the unit began its mobilization, the unit was successfully handed over to the new manager. The project team, in collaboration with ship-crews, undertook a complete SPS (special periodic survey), in addition to reclassification of the 10 k-feet of the marine riser, load-testing all cranes, obtained full re-certification for 2 highly sophisticated subsea Blow-Out-Preventors (BOPs), and performed recertification of the complete dual-activity drilling equipment factory. The Power Management and Control facilities were overhauled and tested, leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Phronteseas will maintain operational oversight of an asset owned by a consortium of investors, entrusted with managing its operations and marketing efforts on behalf of the current owners. Leveraging the PHS management system, rigorously audited by DNV and awarded a Document of Compliance (DOC) by the Panama Flag, Phronteseas ensures compliance and operational excellence.

In support of these endeavors, Phronteseas has curated a dedicated 12-person rig crew operating on a rotational basis, supplemented by a team of onshore subject matter experts (SMEs) providing round-the-clock support. This holistic approach encompasses inventory verification, engagement with regulatory stakeholders, supply chain management, and the provision of operational and marketing-focused engineering support.
